Privacy Policy
In short
Ato works entirely on your iPhone. It has no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Nothing you scan, capture or create is sent to me or to anyone else unless you choose to share it.
What Ato uses, and why
Camera and LiDAR
Ato uses the camera and the LiDAR scanner to scan your surroundings and to show the Live view. The images and depth readings are processed on your phone to build each scan.
Location
If you allow it, Ato records where a scan was taken and shows it in that scan's details. The coordinates are saved with the scan on your phone and are never sent anywhere. You can decline or turn this off at any time in Settings โ Ato โ Location; scanning works the same without it.
Photos
Ato asks only to add to your photo library, so it can save the images, videos and animated photos you export. It cannot see or read your existing photos.
Files
Ato opens a scan file only when you pick one to import, and saves a file elsewhere only when you export it and choose where it goes.
What Ato stores, and where
Your scans, Live photos and videos, presets and settings are kept inside Ato's storage on your phone. They are removed when you delete them in Ato, or when you delete the app.
Ato's folder is visible in the Files app under On My iPhone, so you can copy your scans off the phone. A scan's folder includes its details file, which holds the scan's location if one was recorded. Anything you copy elsewhere goes with you, under your control.
Like any app's data, Ato's storage is included in your iPhone backups, to iCloud or to a computer, if you have backups turned on. Those backups are handled by Apple and your own settings.
Sharing
When you export an image, video or scan file, iOS's share sheet lets you choose where it goes. What happens next is up to the app or service you send it to, under its own privacy policy. Exported images and videos do not include the scan's location.
Purchases
Ato's one-time unlock is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; Ato never sees your payment details or Apple ID. Ato only learns whether the unlock has been bought, so it can turn the paid features on.
What Ato does not do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No analytics, crash reporting services or usage tracking.
- No advertising, and no sharing or selling of data.
- No tracking across other apps or websites.
If you choose to share crash reports with developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may pass anonymous crash information to me through its own developer tools.
Children
Ato collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If Ato's handling of data changes, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change with it.
